'Calm Down' was initially released by Rema under his Raves & Roses album. The Nigerian superstar then collaborated with American singer Selena Gomez to create a remix of the song. The ongoing trend of collaborations between Nigerian and international musicians has solidified, and 'Calm Down' stands out as Afrobeats' biggest global export, dominating charts in numerous nations and achieving remarkable streaming records.

The music video was initially released on September 7, 2022. Ever since then, it has been gaining worldwide acclaim. Via YouTube, the music video for 'Calm Down' has now surpassed 700 million views. This is an incredible feat as the music video is nearing one billion views.

The hit song has become the first collaboration in history to spend over a full year on the Billboard Pop Songs airplay chart. Rema recently performed the smashing song during the 2023 Ballon d'Or Award ceremony. The Nigerian superstar continues to achieve momentous milestones. During an interview with I-D magazine the superstar said, “The clearest vision I have right now is that I will open so many new territories to Afrobeats. That’s the vision for me: opening doors, creating bridges. I’m the bridge to a lot of undone things".
