It's World Proposal Day! Here Are 5 Wedding Music Video Favourites to Mark the Day

The human existence might be one of the most questioned things but one thing we wouldn’t cease to do is find a way to celebrate that very existence either by doing so for ourselves or activities we love. Like it or not, one of such activities celebrated is marriage proposals. Yes, that activity that has become a much-discussed and argued upon issue on social media is celebrated on a particular day. That day is the 20th of March of every year and in light of this, we’ve made you a list of Nigerian music videos with either marriage proposals in them, or wedding ceremonies to once again, be reminded of the beauty of love.

1. Heaven (Susu’s Song) by Banky W: 

It is not uncommon knowledge that Banky W and his wife, Adesua are the top executives of God When Incorporation, with how they constantly celebrate each other with profound words and cute pictures. These acts are however not relegated to the online spaces alone but has come alive in songs by the musician arm of their union, Banky W. One of the first of such is Heaven (Susu’s Song) which is not only dedicated to Adesua but has her play the role of muse. In the video, we’re also shown clips of the rose-petal setup that made up their marriage proposal.

2. Aduke by Tjan: 

First, he showered his over with gifts, beautiful words and roses of course. Next, she and her girls were taken shopping in a limo. Then when the limo pulled up with the girls and his lover all glammed up, it was to a beautiful court which Tjan had seen got done up exquisitely to pop the question and propose to his lover. Intended fiances can definitely learn a thing or two from this video. 

3. Amen by Chike

Chike made his name fully with his debut album Boo of the Booless so it’s already a given that when it come to singing about matters of the heart, he is the man. But this song is not only perfect for wedding ceremonies or to cull a line for your marriage vows from but also has a surprise proposal carried out in a different way.

4. On Top Your Matter by Wizkid: 

Well this video by Nigerian megastar, Wizkid doesn’t have any marriage proposal scenes but it did capture the moments of preparation of the bride and groom to be before walking down the aisle to exchange rings. The video also gains poignancy when we find out that the bride’s parents are no more when she wistfully looks at a photograph of them. 

5. My Darling by Tiwa Savage

In this video, the African Bad Gyal actually served a short film where we’re taken through hilarious scenes as Tiwa’s mum, played by Tiwa Savage herself, passes commentary on several things at the preparation phase of her daughter’s wedding. We might also not have been gotten a proposal in the video but we get to see in Sounds-of-Music romance style, how Tiwa and her boo fell in love.

6. Mon Bebe by Patoranking

No marriage proposals were carried out in this video but it’s worth a mention as it poses a visually pleasing union of cultures all over Africa in a video where Patoranking takes Yemi Alade to the aisle in with beautiful wedding guests showing the beauty of African culture. 

7. One Milli by Davido 

There may be a lot of questions from fans concerning the state of Davido and Chioma’s relationship but what cannot be questioned is the beautiful display of love that the video to his One Milli is as he weds Chioma in an elaborate traditional affair that shuts down the road. 

8. Promise by Adekunle Gold

If Banky W and Adesua are the executives of God When Incorporation, then Adekunle Gold and Simi are board members with equal capacity. The fact that they also have a song that serves as a wedding vow is more than enough proof. The video of Promise is the ultimate 'God when' video, where we follow the duo from their stay at a beach resort to clips of their private wedding ceremony. It’s up to us to imagine how their proposal went but I bet it was also epic.
