The Spaniard decided to withdraw from the tournament following the abdominal pain he had during his quarterfinal match. Nadal announced this after his training session today which he had 45 minutes ahead of the game against Kyrgrios.

This decision means the Australian tennis player will have free passage to the final of this year's Wimbledon which will take place on Sunday, July 10th, 2022. Spanish Newspaper Marca confirmed that Nadal has a 7mm tear in one of his abdominal muscles.

Nadal was looking forward to winning the Wimbledon title as he looks to complete the Golden Slam. The 36-year-old has won 22 grand slam titles, two more than his closest rivals, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer who are both on 20 grand slams.
