PSG Claim Lionel Messi's Leaked Contract Is Fake
The sporting director of Paris Saint-Germain, Leonardo Araujo, has claimed that the leaked contract of Lionel Messi is false. The leaked contract showed that Messi is promised a third season at the club.
Messi left Barcelona to join the Ligue 1 club on a free transfer this summer after the Catalan club confirmed the Argentine's contract could not be renewed because of financial fair play in Spain.
A report from French newspaper L'Equipe that Messi will earn £34million during the third year of his contract, and he is expected to go home with a yearly bonus of £13million.
Leonardo insists that there is no such agreement between both parties. He also said the leaked contract that contains false information is a disrespect to all parties that are involved, according to reports from Mirror Football on Sunday, September 19th, 2021.
We can't accept this. This is unacceptable. This is completely false. I wanted to tell you that. I think it's a lack of respect and we didn't like it. I don't understand the timing. This is very far from the truth on the duration and the numbers.
There are confidentiality clauses but I can say that this is not the truth. The duration of the contract is two years. It's wrong, it's not that, and we didn't like it.
Messi has played two games for PSG this season against Rems in the Ligue 1 and Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League.
