Diogo Jota Signs Long-term Contract with Liverpool
The Premier League club confirmed the news on its official website on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022. According to reports from the club, the Portuguese signed a long-term deal with the Reds. Jota joined Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers during the summer transfer window of 2020.
The 25-year-old expressed his delight concerning the contract extension, he also said that his reason for signing the contract was because of the philosophy of the club.
Well, I am really proud, I have to say. Obviously, since I arrived two years ago I established myself as an important player in this team that’s what I wanted from the beginning. Now, signing a new long-term deal, it’s obviously from the club’s perspective proof of the belief in myself as a player. For me, obviously it’s really good to establish I’ll be here for a while. So, the beginning of a new season, let’s do it.
Jota broke into the team as soon as he joined the Reds in September 2020. He scored 21 goals across all competitions in the just concluded 2021/22 season. He also helped Liverpool to win the Carabao Cup and Emirates FA Cup, as well as second place in the Premier League and Champions League.
