The Outlaw King of Afrobeats
Victony, born Anthony Ebuka Victor is more than just a name in Nigeria’s music scene—he’s a vibe. Hailing from Orsu in Imo State, this singer, songwriter, and rapper has been stealing hearts and airwaves since he burst onto the scene. Growing up, he vibed to legends like Davido, Wizkid, MI, and Falz, and today, he’s carving his lane as one of the coolest kids on the block.
Signed to Mainland BlockParty and Jungle Records, Victony first made waves with Ina Benz, his breakout single. But it was his 2020 debut album, Saturn, that really showed the world he wasn’t just here to play—he’s here to slay.
Breaking Boundaries
In 2022, Victony dropped Soweto featuring Tempoe, the smash hit that went viral on TikTok. The track got a glow-up with a remix featuring Rema and Don Toliver, climbing charts in the UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Canada. It was the anthem you didn’t know you needed.
Fast forward to June 2024, and Victony gave us Stubborn, his second studio album. This project? A masterpiece. With a mix of Afrobeats, hip-hop, and R&B, Stubborn is all about love, resilience, and finding your voice. It’s not just music—it’s a whole mood.
The Outlaw Journey
Victony started as a rapper, trading verses with Ladipoe on Revival Sunday. He made his debut with The Outlaw King mixtape on SoundCloud, earning the nickname he wears like a crown today. From covering Cardi B’s Bodak Yellow to XXXTentacion’s Moonlight and Burna Boy’s On the Low, Victony’s early days showed his versatility.
But it wasn’t always smooth sailing. In 2021, after a tragic car crash, he dropped Pray, a deeply personal track that became a beacon of hope. Later that year, he leveled up with Holy Father, a collaboration with Mayorkun that hit number one on Apple Music Nigeria and cracked the Billboard Top Triller Global charts.
The Outlaw and Beyond
Victony’s Outlaw EP in 2022 was a banger, packed with hits like Soweto, Kolomental, and All Power. His evolution continued with chart-topping features and singles like Babylon and My Darling. Then came Stubborn in 2024—a 14-track album with features from Asake, Shallipopi, and Saint Jhn that had critics and fans alike screaming, “GOAT!”
Real-Life Resilience
Life hasn’t been easy for Victony. A tragic car accident in 2021 took the life of his friend Doyin and left him in a wheelchair. But even that couldn’t stop him. By December 2021, he was back on stage, performing with Davido and Mayorkun like the boss he is.
With a degree in Petroleum Engineering from FUTO and a heart full of dreams, Victony is the living definition of bounce-back energy. Whether it’s his lyrics, his beats, or his story, Victony is here to remind us that no matter how hard life gets, the music never stops.
