Former World Number One Women's tennis player, Serena Williams has been knocked out of the US Open.

The American was beaten by Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic in 7-5,6-7,6-1, in one of the most thrilling games of all time after three hours. The tennis game kept most tennis lovers glued to the court or on their screens around the world as the majority were rooting for Serena.

The 40-year-old has initially announced that she will be evolving from tennis after the US Open. However, she did not give an outright answer when she was asked on the court after her defeat to Tomljanovic.

The 23-time grand slam winner thanked her family members for the support that they showed her during her career on and off the court. She made special mention to her sister Venus Williams for all the inspiration she gave her to become the tennis player thst she eventually became.
