America's teenage sensation, Coco Guaff, wrote her name into the history books of tennis at the 2023 US Open final.

The 19-year-old became the youngest American teenager to win a grand slam since Serena Williams achieved such a feat in 1999. Coco Guaff came from a set down to beat incoming World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Coco thanked her parents for showing her support from the beginning of her career and also standing by her to win her first grand slam.

"Today was the first time I have seen my dad cry. Thank you guys. You believed in me from the beginning. I’ve been coming to this tournament, siting right there watching Venus and Serena compete. It’s incredible."

She also gave gratitude to everyone who supported from the start of her career and also during the competition.

"Thank you to the people who didn’t believe in me. A month ago I won a 500 title and people said I’d stop at that. 2 weeks ago I won a 1000 title and people said that was as big as it’d get. 3 weeks later, I’m here”

She will be the world number 3 tennis player when the WTA releases the latest ranking on Monday, September 11, 2023.
