The UEFA Champion League is set to resume on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, with its round of 16 fixtures, and here are a few things to know ahead of the fixtures.

After a lengthy break in the champions league in 2021, the UEFA champions league would make its most anticipated return to the screens with its round of 16 fixtures.

For February in 2022, there are 16 matches scheduled for the round of 16 first leg kick-offs that will begin from Tuesday, February 15, 2022, and end on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

PSG vs Real Madrid

This match is arguably one of the biggest matches in the tournament; the French side PSG is set to take on the Spanish side Real Madrid. The fixture is not their first meeting in European competitions, but in their last five meetings, both sides have won twice and drawn just once.

PSG, however, would be receiving the boost and experience of the current Balon D'or winner Lionel Messi against Spanish sides having played for Barcelona.

Regardless of this, players from both sides could miss the fixture scheduled for Tuesday, February 15, 2022, due to injury. Karim Benzema might be out for Real Madrid, and Neymar Jr. could also miss this fixture. Although both players are returning from injury, their match fitness ahead of this fixture could be heavily scrutinized.

Another major concern would be in the issue of Kylian Mbappe; before the end of the January 2022 transfer window, market rumors had begun to circulate that Mbappe had already agreed on a move to Real Madrid at the end of the summer, which is when his contract expires. Mbappe has denied the accusations and has stated that his focus is still at PSG ahead of the encounter.

Sporting vs Manchester City

The current Premier League champions, Manchester City, are set to face their Portuguese counterparts in Sporting CP. However, this is a tough match because, in their last three meetings in Europe, Sporting CP has won 2 and has only lost once to Manchester City.

Even though Man City is in the form of their life, the UEFA Champions League is a competition where Sporting CP can turn in the tides in the round of 16.

Pep's men would be without Kylie Walker, who was suspended by UEFA the two legs of this round of 16 fixture after a rash challenge against an opposition player in the tournament's group stages.

Inter Milan vs Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp's men would be looking to progress out of the round of 16 against a shaky Inter Milan side. In their last two meetings, Liverpool secured a win to qualify for the next stage in both matches. With Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane back from the AFCON 2021 tournament, Liverpool at the moment is a compact side who would be looking to cap their Serie A title win last season with the UEFA Champions League as well.

RB Salzburg vs Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich has secured two wins out of the last four meetings with RB Salzburg, who have only managed to secure one win in their previous meetings. Bayern would be looking to shake off their defeat in the Bundesliga on Saturday, February 12, 2022.

Bayern would have their eyes on another UEFA Champions League trophy again under new management.
