With the transfer window deadline being today, January 31, 2022, top clubs in Europe like Chelsea, PSG, and Barcelona are making a last-ditch to get players.

Aubameyang and Dembele

For clubs in Europe, the mid-season transfer window that opens from January 1st till January 31st of any season is an avenue for clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, PSG, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and so on to improve their squad quality for the second half of the season.

Although clubs have been busy and have succeeded in signing key players, some are still having issues in getting the players of their choice and even retaining the current players they have as contracts of these players would be expiring by the summer.

Barcelona, Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Tottenham have been the busiest clubs in this transfer window, Chelsea is still trying to get big names at the club to extend their contracts with PSG making a late move for Dembele all in the final day of the transfer window.

Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Barcelona have had the best transfer window so far as their squads are currently undergoing full overhaul in every sense. This can be attributed to the fact that these clubs all got new managers in the new season; Eddie Howe replaced Steve Bruce at Newcastle, Steven Gerrard replaced Dean Smith at Aston Villa with Xavi replaced Koeman at Barcelona.

Newcastle has managed to secure the services of Chris Wood, Kieran Trippier, and Bruno Guimaraes so far and still has their sights on getting Jesse Lingard on loan from Manchester United. For Aston Villa securing the services of key players like; Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Digne, Robin Olsen, and Callum Chambers. Chelsea is still trying to get players like Toni Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, and César Azpilicueta to extend their contracts with the club, but they still have their eyes out for players like; Kounde and Dembele before the transfer window closes.

Barcelona has secured the service of Adama Traore from Wolves and is still trying to get Aubameyang on loan to the Camp Nou, their key focus, however, lies on letting Dembele leave the club. PSG has shown interest alongside manchester united in signing the french youngster who is currently an outcast in the side.

The last day of the transfer window is expected to bring shocking news and drama but the key signing for us in this window is that of Christian Eriksen, who finally returns to the premier league with Brentford on a six-month deal.
