The 41-year-old joined the rest of the world to celebrate the greatness of Federer during his time on the tennis court. Serena celebrated the Swiss master on her official Instagram account on Friday, September 16th, 2022.

I wanted to find a perfect way to say this, as you so eloquently put the game to rest, perfectly done, just like your career. I have always looked up to you and admired you. Our paths were always do similar, so much the same. You inspired countless millions and millions of people including me and we will never forget. I applaud you and look forward to all that you do in future. Welcome to the retirement club and thank you for being you.

Serena also announced in August 2022 that she would be evolving from tennis. Both tennis players have dominated the court in recent years and have both won 43 Grand Slam titles between them.
