The Premier League is known for spending mega money on footballers whenever the transfer window opens, with Moises Caicedo becoming the league’s most expensive player in history .

Chelsea broke the British transfer record to sign Ecuadorian midfielder, Moises Caicedo from Brighton for a fee of £110 million during the 2023 summer transfer window.

Harry Maguire - £80m (from Leicester City to Man Utd, 2019)

Manchester United broke the transfer fee for the most expensive defender in football fo Harry Maguire just 18 months after Liverpool made Van Dijk for £75 million from Southampton.

It took the Englishman just half a season to become the captain of the Red Devils but he lost his place in the team and captain armband under Erik Ten Hag in 2023.

Antony - £82.2m (from Ajax to Man Utd, 2022)

Manchester United signed Antony on the final day of the 2022 summer transfer window from Ajax after weeks of negotiations. He was part of Ten Hag's plan for the team following the familiarity between both men while they were in the Dutch league.

Arsenal completed the signing of the England midfielder from West Ham for a club-record fee of £105m. The deal surpassed the £72m Arsenal paid for Nicolas Pepe from Lille in 2019.

Rice's signing is just short of the British record transfer fee with Chelsea paying £106.8m for midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Benfica in January 2023.

Moises Caicedo - £115 million ( from Brighton to Chelsea, 2023)

Chelsea Football Club broke the current transfer fee for the most expensive player in the history of the English Premier League by signing Caicedo for £115 million on an eight-year deal. The Blues are understood to have paid an initial £100m, plus £15m in performance-related add-ons.

There is an option of a further year in Caicedo's contract and Brighton will have a sell-on clause that has been described as "significant" as part of the deal.
