Mason Mount reveals why he decided to join Manchester United

Manchester United have confirmed Mason Mount as its first official signing of the 2023 summer transfer window ahead of the new season.

The Red Devils made the announcement on its official website on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, just a few hours after Mason Mount released an emotional video to Chelsea supporters. The future of the English midfielder at Stamford Bridge has been in doubt since the beginning of 2023.

Mount explained the reason he decided to join the Red Devils during his first interview with the club's media team.

"It’s never easy leaving the club where you grew up, but Manchester United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career. Having competed against them, I know just how strong a squad it is that I’m joining, and I can’t wait to be part of this group’s drive to win major trophies."

He also spoke about how Erik Ten Hag's presence at Old Trafford was a huge influence in his decision to join the Red Devils.

"Everyone can see that the club has made big steps forward under Erik Ten Hag. Having met with the manager and discussed his plans, I couldn’t be more excited for the seasons ahead and am ready for the hard work expected here. I am hugely ambitious; I know how amazing it feels to win major trophies and what it takes to do it. I will be giving everything to experience that again at Manchester United."

The 24-year-old will bring his wealth of experience to Manchester United's midfield which already has Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen.
