Manchester United release statement on Jonny Evans' future

Manchester United Football Club have confirmed that Jonny Evans has signed a new contract with the Red Devils.

The news was confirmed on the official website of the club on Friday, September 1, 2023. Jonny Evans signed a one-year deal which will keep him at Old Trafford until June 2024.

He said what inspired him to sign the new contract was believing the club feels like home and he also enjoyed his relationship with the coaching crew during the pre-season.

"I am delighted to join Manchester United, a place which has always felt like home. This club and the fans have shaped me as a player and as a person since I was 15 years old, and I am delighted to be back where it all began as part of this talented squad. I have really enjoyed working under the manager and his coaching staff since the start of pre-season, and I’m looking forward to helping this group achieve success together at this fantastic football club.”

The defender won three Premier League titles, two League Cups and the Champions League in 198 first-team appearances during his first spell at the club.
