Manchester City quest to defend their Premier League title have hit a stumbling block as they look to knock Arsenal off the league table.

Phil Foden

The Cityzens announced on its official website that Phil Foden has returned to the club following an injury he picked while in the English national team camp. According to reports from the club, the midfielder is expected to undergo a surgery to have his appendix removed.

Manchester City can confirm Phil Foden has left the England squad after undergoing surgery in London for acute appendicitis. He will not be fit for this weekend’s Premier League game at home to Liverpool and it is unclear at this stage how long he will be unavailable for.

Manchester City could also be without Erling Haaland or the weekend game against Liverpool. The Cityzens are eight points off leaders, Arsenal which means they can not afford anything less than a victory against the Reds.
