Manchester City player reportedly set to join Barcelona
Manchester City defender, Joao Cancelo is reportedly set to join Barcelona on a loan deal before the end of the 2023 summer transfer window.
The Portuguese defender looks likely to leave the club before deadline day having failed to feature in any matchday squads so far this season. Barcelona had initially shown interest in Joao Cancelo during the 2023 transfer window in January but it did not happen because of the player’s wages.
He rather joined Bayern Munich, who refused to trigger that player's buy-out clause despite a goal and six assists in 21 appearances for the Bavarians.
Transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that news on his official Twitter account on Monday, August 28, 2023. The 29-year-old will join his former teammate at Manchester City, Ilkay Gundogan at the Catalonia club.
The manager of Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez also confirmed Barcelona were looking to sign new players when speaking ahead of the club’s 4-3 win over Villarreal.
