Liverpool's manager, Jurgen Klopp has called for a replay of the controversial game between his club and Tottenham which was played at White Hart Lane.

The German was speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League on Thursday, October 5, 2023. Jurgen Klopp said, he had never seen anything like that before but all he could ask for was a replay but he knew that is not possible.

Recall that in the game there were a lot of controversial moments in the match. However, the most controversial moment of came in the 34th minute when Luis Diaz's goal was ruled out incorrectly for offside, with VAR Darren England failing to communicate the need to overturn the decision to referee Simon Hooper.

The Premier League referee body had earlier released the audio conversation between the on-field referee and the VAR officials. This was released upon the request of Liverpool for the sake of transparency.

"The audio didn't change it at all because I was not really interested in why things happen. I saw the outcome, I saw a goal, and I saw it didn't count. It's really important that we deal with it properly. They [the match officials] didn't do it on purpose and we shouldn't forget that. Yes, it was a mistake. An obvious mistake. I think there would have been solutions. I think the outcome should be a replay. Probably won't happen. As far as I can remember, something like that never happened, that's why I think a replay should be played."

Liverpool lost the game 2-1 having played more than 30 minutes with two men down after Curtis Jones and then Diogo Jota were shown red cards.
