Jose Peseiro reportedly selects his first choice goalkeeper for Nigeria ahead of AFCON 2023

Super Eagles of Nigeria head coach Jose Peseiro has reportedly made his selection of the first choice goalkeeper that will be in goal at AFCON 2023.

In his AFCON 2023 25 man squad shortlist for Nigeria, Jose Peseiro invited three goalkeepers Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali and Leke Ojo to camp.

Debates on who will be the first choice goalkeeper for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 surfaced following the poor run of form of Francis Uzoho in the qualifiers played in 2023.

Peseiro used all three options selected in his shortlist in the friendlies played during the AFCON 2023 pre-tournament training held by the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Abu Dhabi.

According to media outlets, Peseiro has decided to stick with Francis Uzoho as his first choice goalkeeper as insiders in the camp were rumored to have said Uzoho is the best shot stopper out of all three goalkeepers.

There has been no official confirmation but as the Super Eagles of Nigeria return to Lagos for their final gathering before AFCON 2023 as a squad with new players with both Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Boniface many are looking forward to a confirmation from the Nigerian Football Federation.
