Victor Boniface reacts to missing AFCON 2023

Victor Boniface has reacted to him missing out on the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 (AFCON) as the Super Eagles of Nigeria's squad ahead of the competition witnesses another shake-up.

The Bayern Leverkusen forward who is currently having one of the best seasons of his career in the Bundesliga took to his social media platform to wish the Super Eagles of Nigeria well at AFCON 2023 which will commence on Saturday, January 13, 2024.

However, his follow-up message broke the hearts of fans as he revealed that he had missed out on the Under 20 Nations Cup as well due to injury and now he is missing out on that of the senior team due to injury as well.

It was initially reported that the forward who scored 17 goals in the Bundesliga alone in the 2023/2024 season picked up a knock in training and was under assessment to see if he would be fit enough to continue in the competition.

The latest announcement by the Super Eagles of Nigeria regarding a new change to their AFCON 2023 squad confirmed that the young player had not passed the fitness test.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have confirmed the fears of many football fans worldwide with their recent update on the reports of Victor Boniface picking up an injury ahead of AFCON 2023.

The statement released by Nigeria confirmed that Victor Boniface will not be available in the squad for the Super Eagles ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations which will commence on Saturday, January 13, 2024.

The official reports also confirmed that the highest goalscorer for the Bundesliga side Bayern Leverkusen Victor Boniface will be replaced by Terem Moffi of the French Ligue 1 side.

This will be the second altercation head coach José Peseiro and many believe that this might affect the entirety of the competition for the Super Eagles of Nigeria as the loss of Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Boniface alters the dynamism of the squad.
