Harry Maguire's transfer to West Ham suffers a setback

SHARE

The desire of Manchester United supporters to see Harry Maguire leave the club has hit a major roadblock as the end of this transfer window draws near.

Manchester United and West Ham United have agreed on a deal that will see Harry Maguire join the Hammers. The English defender was due to complete his move from Old Trafford to the London Stadium before the second week of the 2023/24 season.

West Ham have been left frustrated while waiting for Maguire to agree a pay-off from United. However, there is a chance the deal could still see the light of day but conversations around the deal have been halted.

The 30-year-old received a salary increase as a result of United qualifying for the Champions League and would receive a pay cut at West Ham. According to reports he is asking United to pay him £7 million before he can leave Old Trafford.

The English defender has been on the wrong side of the club's supporters since he joined the Red Devils from the foxes. He lost his place in the team's starting lineup following the arrival of Erik Ten Hag last season ( 2022/23).
