English FA charge Manchester City for gross misconduct

Manchester City Football Club have been charged by the English Football Association for their attitude in the game against Tottenham.

Manchester City players were left furious after the referee Simon Hooper decided to stop an attack from Manchester City which was spearheaded by Jack Grealish. According to the body, Manchester City was charged for the inability to control their players.

"Manchester City have been charged with a breach of the FA Rule 20.1 after their players surrounded the match official during the Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, December 3, 2023. It is alleged that during the 94th minute of the fixture, the club failed to ensure that their players do not behave in a way which is improper. Manchester City have until Thursday, December 7, 2023, to respond to the charges."

There are reports that Erling Haaland could also face a separate sanction for his actions towards the referee during and after the game.
