The Nigerian team needed a win in the final group game against their fellow African rivals, Mali. D'Tigress survived a scare in the final quarter of the game where they led for just two points in most parts of the game.

Nigeria were under pressure in the first quarter of the game as they found it difficult to match the strength of the Malian team. The African Champions came back into the game with an impressive effort as they led the second quarter 42-35.

The third quarter was another total dominance from D'Tigress as they ended the quarter leading 64-44. The game ended 73-69 in favour of the Nigerian team to book a spot at the World Cup.
