Aston Villa cancelled its Sunday training session after a number of positive COVID-19 cases were reported within the club.

English Premier League club Aston Villa has been reportedly hit by a COVID-19 outbreak after several positive cases were reported within the club.

According to UK news outfit, The Athletic, the EPL side cancelled today's training session after a number of COVID-19 positive cases were recorded.

However, according to the report, only one player is positive while the rest are training ground staff members.

The emergence of the highly-transmissible omicron variant has caused a new turn of events in the United Kingdom, as there have also been cases of outbreaks at various clubs.

Manchester United, for example, was reported to have canceled training because of the outbreak. According to the reports, some players and some members of the staff also tested positive for the virus. However, according to reports from Manchester United, the players and team members who travelled for the game against Norwich all tested negative for the virus.

Elsewhere, Sheffield United's home game against Queens Park Rangers on Monday has been postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak at the west London club.

Recall that last Wednesday, eight Tottenham players and five members of Antonio Conte’s staff were reported to have tested positive for COVID-19 tests.
