The second half started the same way as the first ended with City taking more possession than the Gunners. However, Manchester City's youngster Cole Palmer scored the broke the deadlock the 88th minute of the game.

Mikel Arteta had bullets left in his Gun as Trossard scored a late-minute equaliser in the 11th minute of additional time to send the game into penalties. Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri missed their penalties which ensured Arsenal won the game 4-3 on penalties to become Champions of the Community Shield.
