The quest of Chelsea Football Club to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton might not see the light of day due to the transfer price of the player.

Moises Caicedo is the main target of Chelsea as they are looking for a possible replacement for N'Golo Kante and Matteo Kovacic. Chelsea are reportedly willing to pay just £80 million for midfielder while Brighton are said to be asking for £100 million.

The Guardian confirmed that Brighton's decision to inflate the price on the Ecuadorian is triggered by the transfer fee of Enzo Fernandez and Declan Rice. It is perceived that the Seagulls believe Caicedo's value is close to these players.

LONDON, ENGLAND - APRIL 15: Moises Caicedo of Brighton during the Chelsea versus Brighton on April 15, 2023, at Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old signed a contract extension with Brighton in January 2023 which will see him stay at the club until 2027 with an option to extend with an extra year. However, the good news is that the player is willing to join Chelsea.

Both clubs have done deals in the past 12 months, Marc Cucurella left Brighton for Chelsea for £62m. The Blues also signed Brighton’s head coach Graham Potter in September 2022 and their co-sporting director Paul Winstanley also joined the club.
