Chelsea sets price tag for the club's captain ahead of the January 2024 transfer window

Chelsea FC according to reports have revealed that the club's standing captain might be available for sale at a fixed price as the January 2024 transfer window draws closer.

According to media outlets Chelsea FC has confirmed that Conor Gallagher who is the stand-in captain for the club might be available for sale in the January 2024 transfer window for the right price.

Reports indicate that the Blues will listen to offers from 40 million pounds and above for Gallagher. Recall that Conor was poised for an exit in the June 2023 summer transfer window but the idea was shelved as the player expressed his desire to fight for his place in the club.

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino also confirmed in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Chelsea vs Newcastle Carabao Cup clash that the conversation about the future of Gallagher at the club is between the England international and the board.

He stated, “That is between the club and the player. I don’t need to talk too much because it is not my decision. He is in the starting eleven in nearly all the games and is one of the captains. For me, he is the type of player that the club needs to have. He came from the academy and knows the identity of the club and he is very committed. You can see on the pitch how he runs, plays, and fights. He gives everything and he is a really important player. All coaching staff want this type of player in their team."

This would be a huge concern for Chelsea fans as Gallagher has been the only midfielder who has been at his best for the Blues.
