Chelsea FC confirm the signing of a young midfielder

Chelsea Football Club have confirmed the signing of French midfielder, Lesley Ugochukwu on a long-term deal.

The Blues confirmed the announcement of the top-class defender on its official website on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, a few days before the start of the 2023/24 season.

Lesley Ugochukwu joins Chelsea on a long-term deal from Ligue 1 side, Rennes, the 19-year-old joins on a seven-year contract, with a club option of a further year. Both clubs reached an agreement worth around € 27.5 million (£23.5m) for the 19-year-old.

The Blues are reportedly interested in a deal for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, while Conor Gallagher has been the subject of a £40m offer from West Ham.

Chelsea have already added signed Christopher Nkunku, and Nicolas Jackson as well as Brazilian youngster Angelo Gabriel.
