Chelsea FC reaches an agreement to sign a young midfielder

Chelsea Football Club have agreed on a deal with Rennes for its young midfielder of Nigeria descent, Lesley Ugochukwu.

The Athletic confirmed the news on its official website on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Lesley Ugochukwu is expected to join the Blues on a permanent deal. Chelsea and Rennes have reached an agreement worth around € 27.5 million (£23.5m) for the 19-year-old, he is expected to have his medicals with the club soon.

Ugochukwu has also agreed personal terms with Chelsea and will sign a long-term contract with the west London club. However, it has not been decided whether Ugochukwu will go straight into the first-team squad or go on loan.

Chelsea have already signed France international Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal and Brazilian winger Angelo Gabriel this summer.
