Chelsea Football Club has officially announced the exit of one of the best midfielders in the club's history, N'Golo Kante.

The Blues announced on its official website on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, that the French international will join Al-Ittihad at the expiration of his contract on June 30th, 2023. He signed a three-year deal with the Saudi Arabia club which will keep him there until the summer of 2026.

Kante joined Chelsea from Leicester City during the 2016 summer transfer window after winning the Premier League with the Foxes.

Chelsea's co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley appreciated the role Kante played during his time at the club.

N’Golo’s impact and influence during his time at Chelsea cannot be overstated. His tireless performances in midfield contributed to several trophy wins and has guaranteed him a place in the club’s history. We wish him well as he embarks on the next chapter in his career.

Kante joined Chelsea as a more defensive midfielder but he is leaving the club as a more advanced midfielder, a role in which he specialized in under the management of Mauricio Sarri who led the Blues to winning its second UEFA Europa League title.

The 32-year-old played a key role in his seven seasons at Stamford Bridge and lifted the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
