The decision was taken by the Court of Arbitration for Sports ( CAS) where it was cited that the 15-year-old was a "protected person" under WADA rules, according to reports from Sky Sports News. In a statement released after the hearing, CAS said, the situation of Kamila was exceptional after testing positive for the banned substance trimetazidine on Christmas day last year.

The result of the test was not revealed until after February 8th, 2022 during the winter Olympics where she became the first female skater to land the first quad jumps ever completed in Olympic Games.

Valieva who has been training on her own will now participate in the short program section of the women's figure skating competition at the capital indoor Arena on Tuesday, February 15th, 2022.
