With the Grammy Awards 2025 fast approaching, here is why critics are of the opinion that Tems could be Nigeria's most-awarded artist.

According to Billboard, the Nigerian R&B sensation, whose full name is Temilade Openiyi, is expected to secure two wins when the biggest names in music gather at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, February 2. If this prediction comes true, Tems would make history as the first African artist to win two Grammys in a single night.

Tems has earned nominations in three categories at this year’s Grammy Awards: Best African Music Performance for Love Me Jeje, Best Global Music Album for Born In The Wild, and Best R&B Song for Burning.

The publication forecasts that Love Me Jeje which samples Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 classic of the same name will triumph in the Best African Music Performance category, surpassing strong contenders like Tomorrow (Yemi Alade), MMS (Asake & Wizkid), Sensational (Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay), and Higher (Burna Boy).

Additionally, if Tems ends up winning the two categories at the Grammy Awards 2025, it will take her total number of wins to three thereby making her Nigeria's most awarded artists of the prestigious award.
