Seun Kuti accuses Nigerian police of playing a part in recent kidnap spree
Grammy-nominated musician, Seun Kuti has claimed that the Nigerian Police are regularly involved in serious kidnapping cases.
In a video that surfaced on Monday, January 29, 2024, the artist explained what he found out, suggesting that the police might be playing a part in kidnappings.
Sharing a personal experience, Kuti disclosed that when he was held in custody, he ended up in cell one, usually reserved for serious criminals, instead of cell two, where celebrities are usually kept. It was in this cell that he claims to have discovered the extensive involvement of the Nigerian Police in different kidnapping networks nationwide, with the police allegedly playing a key role as the mastermind.
The 41-year-old artist further asserted that many Nigerians have been victims of kidnappings orchestrated by the police. Characterizing kidnapping as the forceful abduction of individuals against their will, with ransom demands being the main motive, Kuti emphasized his belief that the police force has played a significant role in orchestrating such incidents.
The widely circulated video has received support from numerous fans who appear to support Seun Kuti's claims about the supposed participation of the Nigerian Police in kidnapping activities.
