'Nobody fit write for Odogwu' - Burna Boy denies using songwriters

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has sparked controversy by denying the use of songwriters for his music, despite previously admitting to working with a songwriter.

While in a response on his X handle, Burna Boy claimed that anyone credited as a songwriter on his songs is actually a producer, citing Western music policies. He wrote, "Any name you see credited on my songs are only producers of the songs or featured artists, not writers. But for some reason, the Western world considers producers as writers of the instrumentals, and they just throw their names on there as writers. Nobody fit write for Odogwu."

However, this statement contradicts Burna Boy's previous public admission that Davido's signee, Peruzzi, wrote a song for him. In a past interview, Burna Boy stated that Peruzzi was the only songwriter he had ever used.

Meanwhile, Logos Olori, a signee of Davido's, had initially suggested that top artists, including Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido, employ songwriters due to their busy schedules and the demands of the music industry.

Additionally, Burna Boy's denial and contradictory statements have sparked a debate in the music industry. While some supported his stance, others questioned his honesty.
