"Music is not about awards..." - Femi Kuti Reacts to Grammy Nominations
As the most Grammy-nominated Nigerian artiste, music icon, Femi Kuti has reacted to being nominated and the entire idea of awards.
On the 26th of November 2020, Femi Kuti replied @CorrentsCharts' tweet which stated the music icon's Grammy nominations record. Femi Kuti expressed that music is not about awards and further highlighted what he believes music should be about. His post reads:
Music really isn’t about awards though. Fela never won or was never nominated. I don’t think Bob Marley was too. Music is about spreading, giving people the will to go through the hard times in life, etc and inspiration. Music must bring comfort too.

Femi Kuti is the eldest son of Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Kuti. He began his musical career playing in his father's band, 'Egypt 80'. In 1986, later Femi started his own band, 'Positive Force', establishing himself as an artist independent of his father's massive legacy. Femi Kuti also owns a Guinness world record under the catalog of a single note held on a sax in a method called circular breathing. He set the records at 51 min 35 seconds.
