Lil Wayne reveals why he didnt perform at Afronation 2024 in Detroit

American rapper Lil Wayne has opened up on the reason for his noticeable absence at Afronation 2024 despite being the headline act.

Following the official confirmation on May 21, 2024, that popular American rapper and multiple award winner Lil Wayne would be the headline act at Afronation Festival 2024 in Detroit, fans who had eagerly anticipated his performance at the event were noticeably stunned to discover that the rap mogul was a no show on the night.

Lil Wayne was originally scheduled to perform alongside PartyNextDoor, Asake, Rema, Ayra Starr, and Detroit's own Kash Doll during the two-day event which took place at the Bedrock Douglass site on August 17 and 18, 2024.

The lineup had promised a diverse mix of music styles, bringing together artists from different genres and backgrounds for an exciting weekend of performances but these expectations were shortlived with the noticeable absence of Lil Wayne.

The rapper however took to his social media platform to reveal that due to weather conditions he could not make the flight to Detroit on the day he was scheduled to perform and he hoped to see fans again some other time.

His post read, "Afro Nation, I am truly sorry to let you know that I will not be able to perform this evening due to weather conditions that grounded my flight to Detroit. I hope to see you again soon."

This revealtion was made a few hours before his highly anticipated performance on Sunday, August 18, 2024. The show however continued in his absence as Asake, Rema, Ayra Starr and others delivered remarkable performances at Afronation 2024 in Detroit.
