As the date for the Nigerian general election approaches, Davido continues to lend his voice to the importance of a credible election process and the need for the vote of every Nigerian to not just count but for entertainers like himself to also take up the responsibility and use their platform to speak against Tyranny in Nigeria which he declared on Sunday, the 10th of February.

To this cause, the singer is calling on his fellow artistes to take advantage of the voice they have with their platforms and ignore the threats politicians are known to give if crossed or threatened. This challenge is one Davido already took up with his recent initiative, Defend Your Vote, an initiative that monitors the electoral process in Nigeria to ensure it is as credible as possible by ensuring that all votes count.

Since his initial involvement into politics in September 2018 where he was supporting his uncle Ademola Adeleke who lost the gubernatorial election in Osun state to his APC counterpart, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, Davido has gone on to express his consciousness to politics in Nigeria, using his voice to create more awareness to the voting process.

The outcome of the election in September has made the artiste even more determined to ensure that he uses his platform, not just for music but also for speaking against societal injustice for the betterment of Nigeria.

Davido in a chat with his followers on Twitter, also informs all to be careful, especially the youths whom he informed might be unnecessarily arrested in the following days to the general election due to supposedly planned irregularities. He also announced that he is not in any way loyal to any party in Nigeria rather he is more about the people carrying the party flag with names mentioned across different parties which was how he declared officially his support for Banky W.

Davido is also calling upon his fellow artistes to be politically conscious with their platforms and not allow the threats of politicians to keep them silent.
