Blackface reveals 2Baba declined collaboration on new album
Nigerian singer Blackface has disclosed that his former bandmate, 2Baba, refused to collaborate on his latest album, The Return, a project aimed at reviving their iconic group, Plantashun Boiz.
In a recent interview with Television Continental (TVC), Blackface revealed that despite his efforts to reunite the group, 2Baba declined to participate in the album.
"I just released the Plantashun Boiz album now called The Return and it has about 18 to 19 tracks. Faze has a feature, but 2Baba is not on the album because he is not ready to be part of it," Blackface explained. "We already had the time to go to the studio, but they don't want it. If somebody gives you the impression that he is not ready to do this anymore, do you keep waiting or move ahead? So I moved ahead."
Blackface emphasized his desire for recognition, particularly after Kennis Music CEO, Kenny Ogunde, corroborated his claims about the controversies surrounding the hit song African Queen. "I am not demanding anything, just my respect," Blackface stated. "I have put in so much work in this game for the people that are even benefiting from it today, for the young ones that came after. I put in a lot of work; you can't just take me out."
The feud between Blackface and 2Baba, which began in 2015, has been a long-standing issue, with Blackface claiming that he wrote African Queen, a song popularized by 2Baba. Despite Blackface's efforts to extend an olive branch to 2Baba in October 2023, the latter's absence from The Return album suggests that the rift between the two may not be fully resolved.
