Asake wins The Future Awards Africa Prize for Music

Nigerian singer Asake wins the Future Awards Africa prize for music at the just concluded Future Africa Awards hosted by Veeiye and James Gardiner.

Popularly Ahmed Ololade also known as Asake won the Prize for Music at the future Africa awards held on October 22, 2023. The awards celebrate young people between the ages of 18 and 31, who have made outstanding achievements in the year under consideration.

Furthermore the award recognizes artists who have made a significant impact in the industry and earned local and international repute during the year in review.

Asake's win speaks to his testament as a rising Nigerian star. Asake received a nomination at the recently canceled MTV EMA Awards in the newly introduced category 'Best Afrobeats.' Ex-Big Brother Naija star Veeiye and Ghanaian actor James Gardiner hosted the award show.

The 17th edition of the award show was sponsored by Heineken. In an Interview with GQ South Africa magazine Ayodeji Razaq, the Executive Director of The Future Project, said, "The nominees remind us that greatness knows no boundaries. We stand on the brink of honouring 25 remarkable individuals who have defied the odds and inspired greatness".

Following the electrifying release of his second album, 'Work Of Art', Asake has reportedly taken a bold step and officially submitted his masterpiece as a 'for your consideration'. This is to secure a nomination at the upcoming Grammy Awards. The Prestigious Award ceremony has scheduled the announcement of nominations for November 10, 2023, with the grand ceremony set to take place on February 4, 2024.

The Academy Awards recently created a new category titled Best African Music Performance which many afrobeat artist are vying for.
