Asake and Ayra Starr react to receiving first Grammy Award nomination
Singers Ayra Starr and Asake have both reacted to receiving their first Grammy Awards nomination ahead of the ceremony in 2024.
Both superstars received a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category, and this was confirmed in an official announcement by the recording academy today, Friday, November 10, 2023.

Ayra Starr took to her social media platform today, Friday, November 10, 2023, to share her thoughts on receiving her first Grammy Award nomination in the Best African Music Performance category. Ayra was recognised for her lead single, Rush, as she was nominated alongside Burna Boy, Davido, Tyla, Olamide and Asake.
The singer shared a post after the category was announced alongside others during the nomination ceremony, which also took place today. Her post on social media read, "Ayra Grammy nominated Starr !!! It’s only you Jesus , only you !"

Asake Grammy Award nomination
Asake also joined the league of Nigerian superstars with Grammy Award nominations as the singer also received a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category with his collaborative hit song with Olamide titled Amapiano. The multiple award-winning singer took to his social media platform to show his excitement for receiving the nomination in a short post that thanked the Grammys for recognising his efforts.
