Tanzania's President, Samia Suluhu Wins An AFRIMMA Award, Makes A New Record | SEE DETAILS

Tanzanian president Samia Suluhu Hassan has made a new record in Tanzania after winning a special recognition award at the 2022 AFRIMMA Awards. 

Samia who is Tanzania's sixth president and the first female head of state in Tanzania has won the category of "Transformational Leadership Awards" at the AFRIMMA Awards, therefore, making her the first Tanzanian President to win the special award. 

This is not the first time that Samia Suluhu Hassan who is also known as Mama Samia in Tanzania won a trophy at a music award show. In 2022 at the Tanzania Music Awards ceremony, Samia won a special award that recognized her contribution to the Tanzanian music industry. 

Since she became President, Samia has been working hard to improve the Tanzanian music industry as she revived the Tanzanian Music Awards which hibernated from 2015. She was instrumental in making reforms that ensured, Tanzanian artists, are being paid their fair share of Royalties when their songs are being played on Tanzania radio stations.

Also, recently there has been ongoing negotiations between Tanzanian Government and MTV Africa executives on the possibility of MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) to be hosted in Tanzania in 2023.
