AFCON 2023: Mbwana Samatta starts as starting lineups for Morocco vs Tanzania confirmed
The starting lineups for the first group match for Group F Morocco vs Tanzania in AFCON 2023 have been confirmed with one hour left to kick off.
The World Cup 2022 semi-finalists Morocco will be looking to make a bold statement in their first match of AFCON 2023 with the ever-resilient Tanzania also poised to up the ante and follow the steps of the underdogs and secure at least one point from the fixture.
Morocco will be looking to challenge for their second Africa Cup of Nations title in their 19th appearance in the tournament following their first win in 1976.
Morocco head coach Walid Regragui on AFCON chances, said, "For our first match the most important thing is to play with a squad who are all available for selection. We have established a style of play that we want to use at the Cup of Nations. We think that the heat could be decisive in deciding who will win. These are difficult conditions for our players, who nevertheless did what was necessary against Sierra Leone to impose themselves and produce an enjoyable game. Of course, there are still details to be corrected, but we are confident in our potential. We have supporters and our people behind us. We don't want to disappoint them. We are all looking forward to reliving the same emotions as during the 2022 World Cup."
Tanzania will also be looking to qualify out of the group stage of the competition in their third appearance in the competition.
Morocco has named a strong side but Adel Amrouche and his team will be looking to do the unthinkable and catch the Atlas Lions unawares in the competition. Speaking about the opposition Adel stated, "I spoke out a month ago, saying they are one of the best teams in the world. They reached the semi-final. They are not a team that wins by luck, they win with their abilities. They deserve."
