Chocolate City files separate lawsuit against Odumodublvck

Record label, Chocolate City have filed a lawsuit estimated to worth ₦50 million in damages against artist, Odumodublvck.

Chocolate City has initiated legal action against Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, following an alleged assault involving one of its employees during the 2025 Flytime Festival in Lagos.

According to court documents filed at the High Court of Lagos State, Lagos Judicial Division, the label's Project Manager and Public Relations Officer is seeking ₦50 million in damages over an incident said to have occurred on December 22, 2025, backstage at the Eko Convention Centre while carrying out official duties for a Chocolate City artiste scheduled to perform at the event.

In a statement, Chocolate City confirmed that legal proceedings had commenced, describing the matter as one it is taking seriously. The company said its employee has received medical care and the necessary support, stressing that the welfare, safety, and well-being of its staff remain a top priority. It also reaffirmed its commitment to allowing the courts to determine the matter.

According to the statement of claim, the claimant was backstage alongside the performing artiste, the artiste's personal security, a bouncer, and accredited event security personnel when Odumodublvck entered the restricted area.

The claimant alleges that after briefly interacting with several individuals backstage, the rapper approached him and asked whether he or his brother worked for Chocolate City. He claims that moments later, Odumodublvck allegedly struck him in the face without warning or provocation before shoving him aggressively and issuing verbal threats.

The court filing further alleges that although security personnel intervened in an attempt to calm the situation, the rapper continued making threats, including statements that he would "end" the claimant.

The suit also accuses one of the rapper's associates, identified as "Shagba," of pouring an alcoholic drink on the claimant during the confrontation, allegedly acting in concert with the defendant.

According to the filing, Odumodublvck allegedly attempted to return to continue the altercation after being restrained by security officers. The claimant says the rapper made additional threats, including remarks that he would beat and "fuck up" the claimant by any means necessary.

The claimant states that the incident created panic backstage, forcing security personnel to evacuate him and members of his team to a secure location.

Court documents further claim that the alleged assault left the claimant with facial and neck pain, swelling, persistent headaches, general body pain, and psychological trauma. He says he was treated at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where doctors advised him to suspend work and observe strict rest during his recovery.

The claimant is also seeking compensation for financial losses allegedly resulting from the incident. According to the suit, he spent approximately ₦2 million on medical treatment, ₦1 million on additional healthcare-related expenses, and ₦1.5 million on other out-of-pocket costs.

He further claims that his injuries prevented him from honouring several professional commitments during the festive period, including an overseas engagement with a Chocolate City artiste, leading to missed income and career opportunities.

The suit is asking the court to award ₦50 million in damages, which the claimant says reflects lost earnings, delayed project deliverables, reduced productivity, and missed business opportunities. He told the court he intends to rely on contracts, booking confirmations, and other documentary evidence during the trial.

Chocolate City reiterated that it remains committed to supporting its employee and pursuing the matter through the legal system, expressing confidence that the judicial process will ensure the case is fairly determined.

This lawsuit comes right after BlaqBonez filed a separate suit against the rapper. Odumodublvck has not commented on this yet.
