Carlos Alcaraz has officially withdrawn from the 2026 Wimbledon Championships due to an ongoing right wrist injury.

The Spaniard confirmed on Tuesday that he is still not fully fit to return to competition, having already missed the French Open earlier this month. This is a big blow for the Carlos Alcaraz as he was looking the replicate the same performance which he made last year.

I’ve done everything possible to recover in time, but I’m still not ready to compete at the level Wimbledon demands, It’s a very difficult decision because Wimbledon is one of the tournaments I love the most, but my priority right now is to recover fully and come back stronger.”

The two-time Wimbledon champion will also miss the Queen’s Club Championships as he continues rehabilitation after suffering the injury during the Barcelona Open in April. His absence now makes Jannik Sinner one of the leading favourites heading into the grass-court Grand Slam.

He won Wimbledon titles in 2023 and 2025 and was expected to be one of the biggest challengers for the crown again this year. His absence now significantly reshapes the men’s draw, with Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, and Daniil Medvedev among the players expected to benefit most from the news.
