Reece James signs contract extension at Chelsea

Chelsea captain Reece James has shown commitment to the club by signing a new six-year contract which will keep him with the Blues the club until June 2032.
Chelsea confirmed the new deal on its website and social media platforms on Friday, March 13, 2026. The new deal extends his previous contract, which had been set to expire in 2028.
The England international is one of the longest-serving players. He has been part of Chelsea since the age of six and has risen through the academy to become one of the club’s most influential players. Since making his senior debut in 2019, he has made over 200 appearances and has won several major trophies with the Blues, including the 2021 UEFA Champions League.
James, who was appointed club captain in 2023, expressed his happiness after signing the extension, stating that he wants to spend the best of his career at Chelsea and believes the club can achieve more success in the coming seasons.
“I am over the moon to have extended my contract. Chelsea means so much to me. I have always said I want my peak years to be here.”
He also emphasized his long-term commitment to the club, making it clear that he wants to spend the best years of his career at Chelsea F.C. after signing the new deal that runs until 2032.
The new deal is also seen as a major boost for Chelsea’s long-term project, with the club securing the future of one of their key leaders amid previous speculation about his future.
