Terry G reacts after being left out of Billboard’s Top 50 Afrobeats Songs of All Time

Nigerian singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has voiced his disappointment over his exclusion from Billboard’s Top 50 Best Afrobeats Songs of All Time.

The ranking, released earlier this week, placed 2Baba’s evergreen classic African Queen at number one and also spotlighted notable hits such as Timaya’s Dem Mama, Weird MC’s Ijoya, and Olu Maintain’s Yahooze.

However, Terry G believes his contributions to Nigeria’s street music culture were overlooked. Reacting to the list in a post shared by global music monitoring platform Chart Data, the singer wrote bluntly: “TERRY G robbed.”

The Free Madness crooner argued that his songs, including Akpako Master, Free Madness, and Run Mad, were pivotal in shaping Nigeria’s street-hop and contemporary Afrobeats scene, yet none made it to Billboard’s historic roll call.

Terry G, often regarded as one of the most eccentric and influential acts of the late 2000s Afrobeats wave, has long been credited with pushing the boundaries of sound, performance, and street culture in Nigerian music. The reaction of Terry G to the Billboard’s Top 50 Best Afrobeats Songs of All Time adds to the ongoing conversation about global music rankings.
