Cole Palmer gets award nomination ahead of the new season

Chelsea's midfielder, Cole Palmer, has been nominated by the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) for the men’s Young Player of the Year award following his impressive performance last season.

Arsenal's midfielder, Bukayo Saka was also nominated for the award after he scored 21 goals in 59 appearances last season, which he won during the 2022/23 season while Cole Palmer scored 29 goals for club and country,

Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo was also on the six-man PFA shortlist after an outstanding breakthrough season for Manchester United. He made his first Premier League start in November 2023 but went on to make 32 appearances, winning the FA Cup and earning him a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the European Championships.

Mainoo's teammate at United, Alejandro Garnacho, and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Joao Pedro and Michael OIise, who swapped Crystal Palace for Bayern Munich complete the six-man list. However, Palmer has been tipped as football pundits to win the award.

The winner of the PFA award will be announced on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
