Naira Marley has issued a statement clarifying that he had no involvement in the unfortunate death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. The statement, shared on his Instagram account on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, expressed his willingness to assist the police in getting to the bottom of the circumstances surrounding Mohbad's untimely demise.

Mohbad passed away two weeks ago at the age of 27 in Lagos State, and his burial was held on September 13, 2023. The Lagos State Police Command launched an investigation into the cause of his death, which led to the exhumation of his remains for an autopsy.

In the post, Naira Marley vehemently denied being responsible for Mohbad's passing, whether directly or indirectly. He acknowledged that the music industry, like many others, sometimes experiences conflicts among close associates, but he stated that he was innocent. He offered his condolences to the deceased and expressed the emotional impact of the situation on him.

Naira Marley explained that his silence on the matter was to avoid interfering with ongoing government investigations. He also disclosed that he had been out of the country since August 31, 2023, and was in the process of returning to Nigeria to cooperate with the authorities and provide his perspective on the events. He emphasized his commitment to full cooperation with the police and asserted that he had no reason to flee as he was not involved in Mohbad's demise.

The statement further assured that the truth concerning Mohbad's death would eventually come to light. Naira Marley referenced similar scenarios within the music industry, where artists had faced false accusations but emerged stronger, stating that he would be no exception because he is innocent.

Regarding Mohbad's departure from Marlian Music in September 2022, Naira Marley clarified that the label accepted his decision and did not hinder his career or release. He continued working with oneRPM, and legal efforts were made to address any concerns Mohbad had about their past collaboration.

Lastly, Naira Marley refuted rumours that Marlian Music was involved in illegal activities, such as drug trafficking, affirming that these allegations were unfounded and untrue.
