Nigerians react to Victor Osimhen's Ballon d'Or nomination
Super Eagles and Napoli's forward player, Victor Osimhen, has been nominated for the Ballon d'Or 2023 award ceremony.
The Nigerian was one of the 30 players nominated for the award, who had a fantastic performance during the just concluded 2022/23 football season for both club and country. The organisers released the list on their official X account, which was formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
Victor Osimhen became the first Nigerian to be nominated for the Men's Ballon d'Or since 1999. Super Falcons forward player, Asisat Oshoala was also nominated for the award, which will be held on October 30, 2023.
Other African players that were nominated for the award include, Mohamed Salah, Andre Onana and Yassine Bounou.
