The news was confirmed on Watford's official website on Monday, January 24th, 2022. According to reports from the club, th decision to sack Ranieri followed the recent poor run of form since he was appointed to manage the club.
The Italian took charge of the club having just played seven games in the league with seven points to who for which led to the sack of Xisco Munoz.
The Hornets Board recognises Claudio as a man of great integrity and honour, who will always be respected here at Vicarage Road for his efforts of leading the club with dignity. However, the board feels with nearly half of the premier league campaign remaining, a change in the head position now will give a new appointment sufficient time to work with a talented squad to achieve the immediate goal of retaining Premier League status.
The former Leicester City managed to get 14 points in his 13 Premier League games which was the reason for the termination of his contract.
Watford are currently 19th on the Premier League table following their 3-0 defeat to Norwich on Friday, January 21st, 2022.
