Xavi Hernandez Leads Barcelona to La Liga Title for the First Time Since 2019

Xavi Hernandez Leads Barcelona to winning the La Liga title this season (2022/23) for the first time since the 2018/19 season.

The Catalonia club won the title following their 4-2 victory away at Espanyol on Sunday, May 14th, 2023. Robert Lewandowski scored twice as the Catalans celebrated a first title under Xavi and first without Lionel Messi.

This trophy will be special for Xavi because this is his first league trophy for Barcelona breaking the dominance of Real Madrid in the past three seasons. Barcelona are 14 points clear of Real Madrid in second and 16 ahead of third-placed Atletico Madrid with four games of the season remaining.

Barcelona will face Real Sociedad next at Camp Nou where they have the opportunity to celebrate winning the La Liga title in front of their fans. This means Barca have won their 27th league title only Real Madrid have more titles (35).
